It’s officially 15 weeks until summer and I can’t believe how fast this year has gone! It’s so scary to think that I need to start going to uni open days and preparing for my A-Levels (because I’ll be sitting them this time next year oh my god) so so soon. So to avoid the overwhelming terror I get from thinking about the future I’m going to focus on the positives of the end of this school year: the summer holidays! I have so many great plans for summer already and of course gret plans require a great wardrobe, so today I’ll be sharing my summer wardbrobe wishlist (the key word being wish: I may be poor but a girl can dream).
Summer can get boiling hot, or for those of us living in England 2-3 degrees warmer than the rest of the year, so it’s important to me that my causal summer clothes can keep me cool and comfortble but still look fashionable. As a hoarder of cami tops I am in love with this white cami from ASOS, as it looks flowy and airy for a warm summer day and the strappy back detail makes it more interesting than your average cami. Next is the red floral print crop top from Missguided, which I think is a brilliant choice for being a bit bolder this summer (a definite goal of mine: my wardbrobe consists of black, white, grey and nothing else). I really like the tied shirt style as it can be worn casually with shorts, or dressed up with jeans and heels. Finally, I don’t know if I’ve been living under a fashion rock but unti I saw this gorgeous pair I didn’t know that mom shorts exisited, and now that I’ve been enlightened I’m in love with them! The light blue shade is perfect for summer, they’re high waist with a pretty three button detail, and most importantly they look so comfy which is exactly what everyone needs in the hot summer months.
BBQ and Eating Out
Barbecues and going out for food are the highlights of my summer (though that might just be me cause I’m greedy). There’s just nothing better than sitting outside at a wooden table, sun beaming and a fruity drink in hand. For these kinds of days I always want to dress up a bit more than I would on an average day out, so playsuits are my go to! I think that this white one is absolutely stunning as I love a bardot style top and the ruffles give it a flowy, summery look. Next is a pair of gladiator sandals, a summer must for going to barbecues and dressing up a bit, as a classic brown pair like these go with pretty much anything. I love that the straps are thicker than an average gladiator sandal, however I don’t like that this pair from Boohoo are made with real leather, and would opt for a fake leather pair. And of course another playsuit, this one is a mustard, black and white striped playsuit which I adore because it gives a hint of summery colour without being overly bright. I also like the vertical stripes as I find them to be really flattering.
At the Pool
The perfect bikini = the perfect day at the beach. Feeling confident in swimwear is such a huge deal because if you’re spending all day worrying about what you look like in your bikini then you can’t be having fun. This is something I’m really trying to work on this summer, so I’ve chosen a few pieces of swimwear that I usually wouldn’t even consider in the hopes of a bit of a confidence boost this year! So the first is this gorgeous high waist bikini from PLT, that I love everything about. Khaki is my favourite colour to wear as it gives a splash of colour without being too bright, and the high waist bottoms allow for a bit of extra belly coverage so that I’ll feel confident in it. Secondly, my favourite of the lot is another pretty piece from PLT’s swimwear collection, that if you can’t already tell I’m in love with! Again, I’m a huge fan of vertical stripes as they can be so flattering and I like how the gold detail makes the black and white bolder than it typically would be. And (despite the shocking tan lines it leaves) I’m a huge fan of a halter neck. Finally, a beautifully bright swimming costume from River Island. I love how summery the orange colour is, and the bow is such a nice touch that stands out from your typical swimwear.
There have been so many different styles of going out clothes that have been in fashion this year, I was spoilt for choice! First of all, honouring the animal print trend that I hope never dies is this snake skin skater dress from Missguided. I love that, unlike most going out dresses, this isn’t a body-con (my worst fear when it comes to dressing up), so it’ll stay cool and flowy all night, and of course I adore the snake skin pattern as this has been my favourite tend this year. Next is this stunning nude jumpsuit from In the Style. I expressed my love of playsuits earlier, and jumpsuits are absolutely no different, I really like the colour and the slight shimmer gives it a bronzed, summery look. A plunge front is also perfect for dressing up this outfit with some jewellery. Now last, but definitely not least is this yellow, cross body bag which I think is the perfect size for a night out, and I love how it gives a subtle nod to the neon trend without being too bright and “in your face”.
